Project description

Upgrading of 29km of two lane road to a 4 lane highway including interchanges, service roads, new jersey type concrete median barrier, raised paved sidewalks in urban areas with associated storm water system, street lighting and traffic lights (where necessary).

The pavement on the main carriageway consists of 40mm asphalt surfacing, 150mm crushed stone base, 150mm stabilized gravel upper subbase, 150mm stabilized gravel lower subbase, 150mm upper selected subgrade, 150mm lower selected subgrade.

ZMCK responsibilities

The services provided include topographical survey, traffic survey and analysis, soils and materials investigation, environmental assessment, economic analysis, cost estimation and compilation of feasibility study report. Additional services include pavement investigation, foundation investigation, land expropriation, detailed designs for roads, interchanges and stormwater, and the relocation and or protection of services, tender documentation and cost estimation.
